- ➤ Darcy Albert from KittyMom’s Rescue Organization (a volunteer group) rescued Newton when the West Glacier KOA was closing and reunited the lost cat with owner Shannon Haynes at Glacier Park International Airport on Dec. 9. - ➤ Fire crews are battling a blaze today at Montana Timberline Firewood Co. near Kalispell + law enforcement is blocking Helena Flats Road to allow safe firefighting and urge drivers to use alternate routes. KPAX
- ➤ Bigfork Fire Department crews responded Tuesday night near Helena Flats to assist with a fire ignited in Flathead County. MontanaRightNow

- ➤ Wachholz College Center will host a busy 2026 lineup in Kalispell as West Side Story runs Jan. 17-18, a comedy fundraiser takes place Feb. 27, and Tig Notaro performs June 11, while the Under the Big Sky festival in July features top country acts & global talent provides variety. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ State officials will thin 1,000 acres at Thompson Chain of Lakes State Park to combat diseases & pests and reduce wildfire fuels. The first cuts will begin this winter in the Banana Lake Unit north of U.S. 2, and the state will accept public comments through Jan. 6. Daily Inter Lake
