- ➤ Norbert Herriges, a fighter pilot from Whitefish High School, shot down two German bombers in August 1944 near Pourrieres, France, and died after his plane was hit—saving the village. Residents honor his sacrifice every August and a museum exhibit displaying his artifacts is on view at the Northwest Montana History Museum. KPAX

- ➤ A rally in the Flathead Valley on Wednesday urged Representative Ryan Zinke to fully fund SNAP benefits and negotiate an agreement to reopen the government shutdown. Wolf Point Council member Lance Fourstar traveled over 400 miles to attend the event, where organizers distributed free lunches and gathered food for Flathead Giving Table—supporting local food security.
