- ➤ On Oct. 29, St. Matthew's Catholic School hosted a cryogenic demonstration by engineer David Petrick that sent trash cans, soda bottles, and pumpkins skyward, exciting students about science. The experiment used liquid nitrogen to mimic rocket launches (STEM) and has been repeated for three years (cryogenics) to spark interest in technology. Flathead Beacon
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Flathead Food Bank director Chris Sidmore and Blackfeet leaders warned that a government shutdown will delay SNAP benefits in November, leaving more than 77,000 Montanans at risk for food shortages. Local food banks and community groups are ramping up food drives and have already culled bison — a measure to help ease the coming food emergency. Flathead Beacon
