ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local watchdog group Citizens for a Better Flathead and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes filed a lawsuit to block Lakeside County Water and Sewer District’s plan to expand its wastewater treatment facility near Flathead Lake, citing fears that the project may harm water quality and limit public input— the court will hear a motion for a temporary injunction on October 14 at 1:30 p.m. Another lawsuit by the group and a ratepayer alleges the district broke public participation laws— a ruling on that case is still pending. - ➤ Flathead Electric Cooperative crews are working along a 20-mile stretch of Highway 2 between West Glacier and Pinnacle to trim trees and cut excess vegetation—this work helps reduce wildfire risk as part of a plan started in 2021 and continues until October 20.
