COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Conrad Cemetery sexton disappeared with burial records, leaving the site in limbo while Tex and Jerry’s Eatery introduced late night cuisine in Hungry Horse. Community members later rallied to save a long-running skateboarding nonprofit from closing its doors.  Daily Inter Lake
  • The Humane Society of Northwest Montana has launched a Legacy of Care program to help pet owners plan ahead for their pets’ care if owners can no longer provide support—allowing options such as leaving funds through a will or life insurance to ensure that pets and other in-need animals receive proper care.  Montana Senior News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A National Park Service report said tourism at Glacier National Park boosted the local economy in 2024 by creating $656M in output. It noted that 3.2 million visitors spent $458M in the area and supported 5,190 jobs with $217M in wages—helping local work.  MontanaRightNow

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The bonds for building Glacier High School and renovating Flathead High School are paid off after 20 years. Voters approved the $39.8 million bond issue on Nov. 2, 2004 — refinancing in 2019 brought tax relief to local taxpayers.  Daily Inter Lake

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lincoln County farmers are eligible for emergency loans after a drought disaster designation by the USDA Farm Service Agency—loans can help replace equipment, reorganize farms, or refinance debt. Farmers have until May 8, 2026 to apply for this assistance.  MontanaRightNow

HEALTH NEWS

  • A mammography bus—run by Logan Health—will park at the Flathead City-County Health Department on Oct. 2 to offer quick breast cancer screenings as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The bus has served the county for over 10 years and increased appointments by 25% last October while completing about 2,600 procedures statewide.  Flathead Beacon
