- ➤ On Saturday, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks hosted a tree planting event at Somers Beach State Park where many volunteers planted native trees to add shade, screening, and a better look for the park. Officials said the work will benefit park areas and support long-term improvements for the community. KPAX
- ➤ The North Valley Food Bank expanded its mobile pantry network into Columbia Falls in partnership with Land to Hand Montana to use part of their building for food distribution—pop-up pantry service will run at 540 4th Avenue W on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. KPAX
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Educator Cornie Brooks has built community by teaching English as a second language since 2005 and offering free classes to help local immigrants connect. She was hired by Flathead Valley Community College in 2023 and now meets one-on-one with students while organizing Know Your Rights events amid rising political tensions — continuing her mission to empower communication. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, over one hundred people attended the Out of the Darkness Walk in Kalispell to raise awareness for suicide prevention and to raise more than $22,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The event, held during national suicide prevention month, featured color-coded beads to symbolize personal losses and struggles — a reminder that help is available. KPAX
