- ➤ On Sept. 24, the Flathead Homecoming Parade marched down Main Street in downtown Kalispell — the event featured marching bands, cheerleaders, and classic vehicles that excited the onlookers. The parade brought school spirit and a festive crowd to the community. Daily Inter Lake
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On September 7, a Kalispell-based helicopter team rescued a hiker in Shoshone County who accidentally stabbed his thigh while dressing an elk—he was lowered by a specialist and flown for medical care as his friends later recovered the elk. MontanaRightNow
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montana public schools began Freedom Week Monday to teach students about the founding of the United States and their role as citizens. At Flathead High School, teachers and students created public service announcements and history reenactments to show what freedom means—an effort set by a new law to deepen learning about national sacrifices. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council banned the sale, use, and possession of kratom on the reservation on Sept 12 to stop the spread of an unregulated, potentially addictive plant substance with opioid-like effects. Councilmember Lyle Rutherford said law enforcement and court meetings will set penalties for retailers selling kratom in the future. Flathead Beacon
- ➤ Drivers near Whitefish will face traffic delays on US 93 starting Oct. 3 as crews conduct daily blasting and rock removal near Spencer Lake and on Antler Ridge Road between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Transportation officials said the roadway will be closed for up to one hour a day until work finishes in fall 2026—aiming to improve safety and efficiency.
