- ➤ This week marks 10 years since Northwest Montana United Way bought a large section of commercial space at the old Gateway West Mall off Highway 2 in Kalispell—now home to 22 nonprofits creating the Gateway Community Center. Discounted rent below market rate lets these groups thrive while offering essential services to local families. KPAX
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two Flathead farmers recently received a grant from the Montana Farmers Union to support regenerative agriculture practices at their farms. Ellen Mering at 345 Farms will use sheep to clear weeds & enrich the soil, while other local growers will add cover crops and fencing to expand their gardens. Daily Inter Lake
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The new Flathead Valley Reentry Center in Evergreen, which holds 90 residents, will open Oct. 27 following a community open house from Oct. 21—23 and will help offenders transition back into the community by requiring work and strict scheduling for security, according to operations manager Jim Sanderson. Flathead County officials also discussed a 105 million bond for a new jail with modern security and health upgrades ahead of a vote in November. Daily Inter Lake
