ECONOMY NEWS

  • Glacier Park International Airport had a record 86,954 passengers in July—an 11.7% rise over last year that more than doubled travel since 2017. The ongoing $150 million expansion nears completion with new gates and a third baggage claim, while a runway rehabilitation is set for next summer.  Flathead Beacon

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bigfork voters approved a $15 million bond and mill levy Tuesday night to fund a new fire station and add fire and EMS staff after the old station served the community for 45 years. The new station on Chapman Hill Road will begin construction next summer—designed with modern safety measures to protect firefighters.  KPAX
  • Bigfork residents approved a bond and a mill levy on Tuesday to fund a new fire station and needed improvements—voters approved the bond by 54% and the levy by 59%, with taxpayers set to pay extra amounts in future bills to boost staffing, equipment, and EMS services. The bond will provide $15 million over 20 years to renovate old buildings and build the new fire district headquarters while the mill levy will support new hires and updated gear.  Flathead Beacon
