COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Flathead County Library Board voted Thursday to extend the Covid-era wireless internet hotspot program for at least three years through donor funds – a decision that keeps the 50 high-demand devices available for local patrons without adding costs to taxpayers. The program began in 2020 with federal support and is now maintained at an annual cost of about $1,200 for 11 hotspots. Daily Inter Lake
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The historic Kalispell Train Depot roof is under construction after the Parks and Recreation Department received $150,000 from the Montana Historical Preservation Grant Program and added local funds to reach a total of $215,000. The depot, built in 1892 and used for city operations since last year, is getting repairs to fix its key issues. KPAX
- ➤ Flathead County commissioners approved a massive Flathead Lake Club resort project on September 1st—state officials said white nose syndrome was found in bats near Libby Dam. Glacier National Park officials closed facilities at Logan Pass due to a water shortage after heavy summer use. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Kalispell City Council meets today at 7 p.m. at City Hall to consider a proposal for a seven-building 99-unit apartment complex on a 12-acre county-owned lot in South Kalispell and to vote on changes for Ashley Creek Park zoning, renaming the Kidsports Complex in honor of Dan Johns, updating short-term school parking code, and approving a condominium project by Montarise Developments. The apartment proposal, brought by Roger Foley of Jackola Engineering-Architecture PC, requires annexation and conditional use permits based on the city’s urban residential growth policy.
