The Flathead County Library Board voted Thursday to extend the Covid-era wireless internet hotspot program for at least three years through donor funds – a decision that keeps the 50 high-demand devices available for local patrons without adding costs to taxpayers.

The program began in 2020 with federal support and is now maintained at an annual cost of about $1,200 for 11 hotspots.

The historic Kalispell Train Depot roof is under construction after the Parks and Recreation Department received $150,000 from the Montana Historical Preservation Grant Program and added local funds to reach a total of $215,000.

The depot, built in 1892 and used for city operations since last year, is getting repairs to fix its key issues.

Kalispell City Council meets today at 7 p.m. at City Hall to consider a proposal for a seven-building 99-unit apartment complex on a 12-acre county-owned lot in South Kalispell and to vote on changes for Ashley Creek Park zoning, renaming the Kidsports Complex in honor of Dan Johns, updating short-term school parking code, and approving a condominium project by Montarise Developments. The apartment proposal, brought by Roger Foley of Jackola Engineering-Architecture PC, requires annexation and conditional use permits based on the city’s urban residential growth policy.
