- ➤ A new program called AGEWISE launched to help Flathead Valley seniors stay in their homes and connect with other generations by partnering with local builders, realtors and businesses to create safe, age-friendly living spaces - the initiative was started by local experts to address rising demands for senior support. - ➤ The Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana moved into its new building in the former Elks Lodge in South Kalispell on Aug. 21. Executive Director Tracy Diaz said the nonprofit spent nearly $2 million on repairs—aiming to deliver services like energy assistance, employment training, homebuyer education, and a low-income preschool as it braces for federal funding cuts. - ➤ Nathaniel Gray makes custom wood art in his Gray’s Wood Shop in Whitefish—he turns large pieces of timber into lamps, tables and other pieces that show the wood’s natural beauty. He displays his work on Thursdays and Sundays and hopes to reach more buyers as his business grows. Daily Inter Lake
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Flathead High School’s Poetry Club relaunched 'The Quiver' literary magazine in 2023 — a journal first published in 1924 — to give students a creative outlet for poetry, short stories and artwork. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kalispell brought PFAS levels below federal limits in October 2024 by using a temporary treatment system at Grandview Wells, and the city will build new wells near Buffalo Hill Golf Course & Dry Bridge Park to permanently address the issue with a $23.7 million project funded through Montana’s State Revolving Fund.
