- ➤ On Aug. 14, the Roundup for Safety board awarded $39,540 to fund nine nonprofit community safety projects, including new dry suits for North Valley Search and Rescue and hunter orange vests through Flathead Wildlife—efforts that help reduce accidents during rescues and hunting. - ➤ The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified three victims from two plane crashes at Ryan Field in West Glacier—Thomas Gladden, 76, of Spokane and Dwight Steffanson, 69, of Walla Walla died on July 26 when their aircraft left the runway, and Richard Chapman, 81, of Minden died on Aug. 12 when his plane crashed while trying to land. - ➤ A Kalispell man, identified as Jeffrey Sergio, was charged with murder after his car struck and killed a pedestrian in a corn field on August 19—deputies recovered five shell casings and two bullet impacts on his car during the investigation. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ Kalispell police said the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office issued a Missing Endangered Person Advisory for 6‐week‐old Julian Amon (brown eyes, about 11.5 pounds, white) who is believed to be with his non‐custodial parents (25‐year‐old Breanna Breen and 24‐year‐old Quentin Amon) and may be traveling in a blue 2003 Toyota Matrix (license plate 7‐29265D) or a red 1999 Ford Escort (license plate 7‐07008D) amid family history concerns while anyone with information is urged to call 406-952-3790. - ➤ Writing Coaches of Montana is seeking volunteers to help students from 4th to 12th grade in Flathead County public schools improve writing skills. - ➤ Park officials at Logan Pass announced that they may close plumbed restrooms from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. as heavy visitation has raised water use from about 5000 to 6000 gallons to 8000 gallons a day; the water will be turned off on Sept. 7 while a repair project is scheduled to begin in June 2027—vault toilets and water filling stations will remain open.
