Good morning, Kalispell.

Forecasted weather helped 170 firefighters work to contain the 963-acre Deer Creek Fire northeast of Happy's Inn on Monday.

The blaze began Aug. 20 during a timber sale and has threatened 90 buildings, but no evacuations were ordered.

Six new wildfires sparked by lightning have ignited across the Flathead National Forest as crews responded with engines and helicopters amid strong winds and spotty rain — the Camp Creek Fire in the Bob Marshall Wilderness grew to 77 acres while the others range from 0.1 to 7.4 acres.

State wildlife officials vaccinated Libby Dam bats to protect them against white nose syndrome, a deadly fungus.

The measure is part of ongoing efforts to keep bat populations healthy.
