Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 25th of August.
Good morning, Kalispell.
Kalispell City Council will meet today at 7 p.m. in City Hall to consider a request from Peterson Elementary School to build a parking and loading area along Second Street West—this need arose after Samaritan House apartments replaced the former drop-off lot.
The proposal requires a city code change and permits—steps that will create dedicated short-term parking and bus loading areas.
Kalispell competitor Lauren Bergman set a new world record in the women’s standing chop event at the U.S. Women’s Pro Championship on July 26 by finishing in 26.36 seconds; she began her competitive logging career at Flathead Valley Community College with support from her family and now plans to seek sponsorships next season for travel and equipment costs. Bergman—who runs a tree servicing business with her husband—is also encouraging her daughters to join the sport.
