Tom Corl and other local sellers report a poor huckleberry harvest this August in Essex and nearby areas—yields have dropped from 80 gallons last year to only 7 gallons, driving prices higher and forcing sellers to source berries from outside the usual patches.
🌲 Environment
The Haskill Basin Watershed Council urged Whitefish officials to amend the Water Master Plan to add a radio telemetry system for monitoring water withdrawals from Second and Third Creeks (as outlined in a nearly 30-page report).

Great Basin Incident Management Team 7 began transferring control of the 3,364-acre Skillet Fire to a local Type 3 team on Monday morning as containment reached 75% & cooler, wetter weather kept fire behavior minimal while crews mopped up burning fuels that may cause slight increases in activity Friday.
