CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At the 2025 Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo, attendees enjoyed livestock competitions and showmanship contests held at the Trade Center and Flathead County Fairgrounds from Aug. 11 to Aug. 14—highlights included a reserve champion sheep and notable poultry and cattle events. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Whitefish philanthropists Dave and Sherry Lesar purchased the historic Bull Head Lodge—where Charles M. Russell painted and fished—in late July and plan to restore it for public tours in partnership with Glacier National Park, marking the cabin’s first opening in nearly 120 years. Flathead Beacon
- ➤ Rio Dance Studio — located on U.S. 93 south of Whitefish — offers adult dance classes that welcome beginners and experienced dancers in styles like line dancing, contemporary, tap, ballet and hip-hop. - ➤ On August 16, competitors took part in a Pie Eating Contest at the Northwest Montana Fair and Rodeo—Levi Mills and Terry Dyon were among those who competed. The contest was fierce and drew a lively crowd enjoying the fun fair atmosphere. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Flathead Electric Cooperative updated its wildfire mitigation plan to comply with HB490 and is asking for public input on new methods to inspect equipment and trim vegetation—seeking feedback to prevent potential wildfires. A public meeting will be held on Aug 19 at 6 p.m. in the co-op’s Community Room on U.S. Highway 2 East with comments accepted online through Sept 6. Daily Inter Lake
