- ➤ The Great Fish Community Challenge launches Tuesday, August 12 at Glacier Bank Park from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and runs until September 12, offering donors a chance to support 85 local nonprofits with matching funds from the Whitefish Community Foundation—boosting efforts for youth programs, conservation, and other community services. - ➤ Calvary Lutheran Church in Evergreen is raising funds to fix its 30-year-old roof so its community programs can continue, having raised $9,000 of the $50,000 needed. - ➤ On Saturday at 9:41 a.m., Flathead County emergency services responded to a report of an aircraft off the runway at Ryan’s Field near West Glacier and found the plane engulfed in flames with two individuals dead—authorities are notifying next of kin and sending the bodies for autopsies. KPAX

- ➤ Jeremy Maynard runs Montana Devil Dawgs, a family food stand that serves hot dogs and pulled pork with a menu honoring military traditions, all from a cart he opened in Evergreen in 2023. - ➤ Judy Mundell opened Somers Sweet and Savory off U.S. 2 in Evergreen to share her home cooking with a menu of 57 baked goods, 14 kinds of ice cream, 6 soups and 4 cheeses—she will add dairy items when she gets the state license. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Montana Truck Works, based in Evergreen, repairs fire trucks and other emergency vehicles for local and national agencies including Glacier and Yellowstone. Owner KC Cox— a retired Kalispell firefighter— said his team is growing quickly and plans to open a second shop as demand increases. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Four local families who began growing blueberry bushes years ago have opened the Flathead Valley's first pick-your-own blueberry farm on property near Ashley Lake (Hidden Meadows Berries). They cleared land, set up an irrigation system, and planted 500 organic bushes with plans to add more fruit picking opportunities in the coming months. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Justin Krauss, a Flathead Valley DJ, built Noise Box Productions after his brother suggested he use his high-quality speakers to turn his talent into a business opportunity. He now provides lighting and sound systems for weddings, proms and rodeos and pairs his dance skills with creative games to match the music to the crowd’s vibe — a service that continues to grow in popularity. - ➤ Evergreen Water and Sewer District held a ribbon-cutting in late June at 160 W. Reserve Dr.—the new wellhouse has two state-of-the-art pumps with room for a third that boost water output from 2,400 to 3,250 gallons per minute. Officials said the upgrade follows past flood damage and is part of long-term efforts to replace aging equipment. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Flathead County had a hard time filling key jobs; 17 active dispatchers left eight open spots and the Emergency Communications Center did not have a full-time director—dispatchers worked overtime to answer 911 calls. County leaders also struggled to hire custodians and other staff as they managed 62 open roles in several departments. Daily Inter Lake
