- ➤ Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks approved a 52,930-acre conservation easement in the Cabinet Mountains earlier this month to protect wildlife habitat and ensure public recreation. The proposal is valued at $57.5 million with a $20 million in-kind donation from Green Diamond, and public comments are accepted until Aug. 4 before a vote on Aug. 21 — adding to an existing 32,821-acre easement that prevents future residential development.
