- ➤ A Flathead Valley man shot and killed a grizzly bear after it charged him at his chicken coop east of Kalispell on July 10—he was not hurt and the US Fish and Wildlife Service is investigating the incident. KPAX
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Avelo Airlines is ending its seasonal flights from Glacier Park International Airport to Hollywood Burbank Airport and Charles M. Schulz—Sonoma County Airport to focus on East Coast travel. The last flight from Sonoma will be on August 9 and the final Burbank flight will be on August 30, and airport officials said they may talk to other low-cost carriers to fill the gap. - ➤ On July 10, a man near his home on Foothill Road encountered a grizzly bear and shot it—ending the bear's life. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ On July 2 in Bigfork, officers executed a warrant at a Harbor Heights Boulevard home while searching for 25-year-old Moryssa Brooke Berry—when they saw people with suspected fentanyl they arrested Berry and 19-year-old Jace Patrick Boles, and a search uncovered cash, eight guns (four reported stolen), three stolen ATVs and drugs like DMT, ketamine, meth and fentanyl, with Boles set to face felony drug charges and Berry held on theft and bail jumping charges. - ➤ Land to Hand raised $50,000 to keep its Double SNAP program running at local farmers markets in Kalispell through October after its federal grant ended, and local food programs are bracing for bigger gaps when SNAP benefits are cut beginning in 2028—changes that may leave many residents with less help buying food. - ➤ The intersection at Rose Crossing and U.S. 2 in Evergreen will be closed to east and westbound traffic on July 18 and 19 for road work while north and southbound lanes remain open — delays up to 15 minutes are expected.
