🚧 Accidents
On June 27, a 72-year-old woman named Kyle Geyer was trapped beneath her riding lawnmower on Meadowlark Lane near Big Arm, and two visiting teenagers from Billings rescued her after she signaled for help from a ravine.
Firefighters and an EMT later lifted the heavy mower and transported her to Providence St. Joseph Hospital where doctors confirmed bruises, a fractured cervical vertebra, and other injuries — her recovery is now hopeful.
🎓 Education
WorkshopMT, a new nonprofit, hosted a mobile classroom class at Flathead Valley Community College in June where elementary students learned woodworking skills with hand saws and hammers—classes that sold out quickly with support from a grant.
The group plans to use the mobile classroom to reach more communities and aims to create a permanent workshop space when it raises the estimated $50,000 needed.
🌲 Environment
Kenneth Breidinger, a state fisheries biologist, tested the new rules that now allow spearfishing for northern pike while swimming and logged his catches using an online survey on Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
He hopes the survey will help state managers understand the rule's impact on local fish and plans to collect data through next year's season.

The Beverly is a new treehouse at Montana Treehouse Retreat near Whitefish—built from a repurposed 1966 boat by Darin Robison and Kati O’Toole that now offers a reading nook, kitchen, and bathroom.
The conversion, completed over three years, is the third creative build on the property designed to give guests a unique retreat.
