Glacier High School grad Sam Engellant received the Winslow Nichols Leadership Award today for his leadership, community service and academic success.
Retired activities director Mark Dennehy praised his warm personality and work ethic — noting his roles as student council president and his $250 donation to Good Grief Camp — while Engellant prepares to study mechanical engineering in the fall.
🌲 Environment
Access to Logan Pass on Going-to-the-Sun Road was closed Sunday after a summer solstice storm dumped heavy snow on high terrain in Northwest Montana.
The National Weather Service reported that over one foot of snow had accumulated above 6,000 feet + ski slopes at Big Mountain Resort received about 6 inches.

Eight candidates have filed for four city council seats in Kalispell for Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4—with one candidate running unopposed in Ward 2—and voters will get mail ballots ahead of the Nov.
4 election. Incumbents and challengers are seeking office while focusing on issues such as downtown safety and affordable housing—each ward presents a different mix of experience and new ideas.
