Regal Ensemble performs a summer chamber music series of Romantic-era pieces.

They will play in Whitefish (June 18, North Valley Music School), Kalispell (June 19, Bethlehem Lutheran Church) and Bigfork (June 20, Bigfork United Methodist Church) at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $5 for students.

The U.S. Forest Service released an environmental assessment Tuesday detailing the Granite Moccasin Project, a 10-year timber plan along U.S. 2 between Summit and West Glacier that will cause limited short-term impacts on threatened species while improving long-term habitat diversity (comments are accepted through July 1).

The National Weather Service warned that heat waves and thunderstorms will raise wildfire risk in Northwest Montana and the Idaho Panhandle this August and September; local fire experts advise residents to trim trees & clear yard debris to reduce ignition risks.
