- ➤ Kalispell Police warned residents that fraudulent text messages claim to be a 'Final Notice' from the DMV and demand payment by June 9—messages that use a link to a fake website designed to steal personal information. - ➤ Flathead County commissioners appointed Marcia Stolfus as the new Superintendent of Schools today—she brings 18 years in special education and three years as director of the county's Special Education Cooperative and will serve through December until a new term begins, replacing Cal Ketchum. - ➤ Glacier National Park officials euthanized a 4-year-old food-conditioned black bear on June 5 after it repeatedly entered vehicles and buildings near West Glacier following its relocation from Kalispell in 2022—park managers briefly closed Going-to-the-Sun Road on June 7 after a bear with a cub took food from an unattended backpack and urged visitors to secure their food. - ➤ Officials reported the Flathead River Basin had its driest three years ever with streamflow 30% below normal—forcing SKQ Dam to run at a licensed minimum flow of 12,700 cubic feet per second—and it led to a 400 gigawatt hour drop in electricity generation while rising demand may force temporary power cuts.
