🎓 Education
Kalispell Middle School teacher Kris Schreiner was named the 2026 Centennial Bell Montana History Teacher of the Year for his immersive classroom activities that bring Montana history to life.
He will receive $4,250 for classroom materials and enhancements ahead of the November Centennial Bell celebration.
After tests found unsafe methamphetamine levels in its library and teacherage (a school property), Trego Elementary School closed for the rest of the school year; the board approved remediation plans and arranged for its students to finish classes in Eureka.
🌲 Environment
Environmental groups are suing the U.S. Forest Service for bypassing Endangered Species Act reviews when approving the West Reservoir Project near Hungry Horse Reservoir — the 10-year timber and road project approved in March is facing legal challenges over risks to grizzly bears and bull trout.
