Good morning, Kalispell.

Tony Wise is Glacier Symphony’s new executive director, joining the orchestra this winter; the veteran musician and former York Symphony leader plans to boost education programs and community concerts.

He will reintroduce Festival Amadeus and schedule free concerts in Columbia Falls and Bigfork + partner with local libraries to connect young audiences with music.

After unseasonably hot and dry weather in May triggered an early snowmelt, the USDA NRCS reported that northwest river basins face low streamflows through summer with the Flathead basin at 72%, the Kootenai at 71%, and the St. Mary at 45% of normal.

The report also said that the Rocky Mountain Front is in severe drought and Flathead Lake will peak at about 2,892.3 feet before slowly falling+ water supplies may be affected in the region.

Today, Kalispell City Council will discuss adopting a state-approved hazard mitigation plan after postponing the vote so councilors can review the 500-page document— the meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
