- ➤ Allen Erickson, a Navy veteran who founded the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry and annual Libby Stand Down event, died May 23 at age 86 surrounded by family (he had celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary days earlier). His wife Linda said his legacy will continue through ongoing veteran support programs. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Stillwater Christian School senior Levi Fladager boosted team spirit as varsity captain and led tutoring and house programs; he will graduate Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m. and later pursue a pre-med major at Covenant College in Georgia. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Kalispell Public Schools has named Marti Paugh as the new principal of Russell Elementary School, effective July 1. She replaces retiring Principal Bill Sullivan after 19 years & brings experience from Kalispell Middle School. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Six new bear-resistant trash cans have been installed along Electric Avenue this month—another is set for Sliter Park—as part of a local effort by Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork, Swan Valley Connections and People and Carnivores to reduce bear conflicts by limiting access to trash.
