  • The U.S. Census shows that Kalispell grew nearly 25% since 2020, adding 6,218 residents and becoming the fastest growing city in Montana—Gallatin and Flathead counties each added about 1,000 new residents between 2023 and 2024 as part of a broader state trend.  KPAX
  • The Kalispell North Town Center is moving forward as the newest community hub—soon to include the relocations of Costco and the Kalispell Toyota dealership along with 22 commercial lot sales and plans for additional retail and residential space. City officials are preparing new stoplights to manage rising traffic as north Kalispell continues its rapid growth.  Flathead Beacon
  • The Bigfork Whitewater Festival — celebrating 50 years — will be held on the Swan River from tomorrow through May 25. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday evening, community members filled City Hall to share their opinions on the downtown street redesign as part of the Main Street Safety Action Plan adopted last summer — some voiced concerns over reduced drive lanes and parking while others backed the plan for better safety. Councilors will vote on June 2 on whether to apply for the federal grant needed to fund the construction project.  Flathead Beacon

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials reported on Wednesday that a measles case was confirmed in a local adult who had traveled outside the county — vaccination status unknown and now isolating at home — and the department contacted close contacts with no known public exposures.  KPAX
  • The Flathead City-County Health Department confirmed a measles case in a Flathead County resident who recently traveled and is isolating at home—officials are working with Montana Public Health to notify anyone who may have been exposed and advise on symptoms, with no known exposures linked to schools or daycares.  MontanaRightNow
