- ➤ Flathead Electric Cooperative is using drone technology in partnership with Voltair to inspect power lines and equipment across its service territory this year, including the Libby area and west of Kalispell this fall (inspections may last up to two weeks). Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Three local volunteer fire departments have expanded their Canyon QRU — now including trained EMTs and EMRs — to improve emergency responses along the 55-mile stretch from Badrock Canyon to Marias Pass as tourism and year-round residents grow. Flathead Beacon
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students from Flathead and Glacier high schools (serving Flathead, Lincoln, and Lake counties) competed in the District Music Festival held earlier this month and received performance ratings from poor to superior. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Flathead Valley Community College’s Broussard Family Library earned the 2026 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award — an honor given by the Association of College and Research Libraries to recognize community and junior college libraries. - ➤ After the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council declared a state of emergency Tuesday following the failure of the East Glacier sewer lagoon system on April 28, officials say local health, safety, and the environment are at risk as site assessments and repairs are coordinated with EPA + IHS. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At the 48th Annual ALERT Banquet on April 25 at the Fairgrounds, nearly 1,000 community members raised a record $755,897 to support local health services—funds that will help add a Bell 429 helicopter to speed patient care and transport in the region. Daily Inter Lake
