- ➤ On March 28 at 11:20 a.m., Gary Gilham, a furniture store driver in Kalispell, was hurt when a loose magnet from an unsecured load broke his windshield and caused severe facial injuries, and he urged law enforcement to enforce tougher load securing rules as the accident cost his family and company over $50,000. - ➤ Kalispell is featured in a Smithsonian traveling exhibit that tells the story of Japanese war brides who came to America after World War II— the exhibit will open May 1 at the Morikami Museum and tour museums until mid-2028. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds gathered at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell for an Earth Day celebration organized by the Flathead chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby— the third annual expo featured interactive workshops, hands-on displays and a keynote address that encouraged local action for a healthy environment. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Montana Department of Transportation and project partners will host an open house on May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ninepipes Lodge in the Montana Conference Room where visitors can review design drafts and learn about planned roadway safety improvements and wildlife accommodations — project experts will answer questions. - ➤ Beginning April 28, paving work will start on the Kalispell Bypass with crack seal, chip seal and fog seal from just west of West Reserve Drive extending south to near the southern Ashley Creek Bridge. The project will last about eight weeks—starting with overnight work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. then switching to daytime work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.—and drivers will face reduced speeds and single-lane closures.
