- ➤ Federal agencies have paused the plan to introduce bull trout into Gunsight Lake in Glacier National Park due to serious concerns over the project’s environmental analysis—after already removing nonnative rainbow trout—and will proceed to phase two only after new reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act and ESA. - ➤ Glacier National Park plow crews are about 3 miles from Logan Pass on the Going-to-the-Sun Road as they work on plowing the Big Bend—clearing pavement at Grouse Point with snow depths of 4 to 8 feet, according to park spokesperson Gina Icenoggle. Hikers and bikers can reach the Loop on the west side and the Grizzly pullout on the east side today while many secondary roads will remain closed to vehicles due to lingering snow and rain expected on Sunday. - ➤ On April 17, a property tax relief measure backed by Gov. Gianforte stalled in the Senate with a 25—25 vote, leaving lawmakers divided on how to ease rising homeowner taxes. - ➤ On April 17th, the Flathead National Forest held a meeting in Condon to discuss the potential sale of Holland Lake Lodge as buyers Eric Jacobsen and Thomas Knowles submitted an application for a 20-year permit that keeps the lodge's current size—public comments on the proposal end on May 7—and community members asked key questions about the future use of the property.
