ECONOMY NEWS

  • NorthWestern Energy pitched the Montana utility board a 9.14% increase in natural gas rates after reaching a settlement with consumer representatives that means an average customer using 65 therms will pay about $4.74 more than last July; the agreement does not settle whether electricity rates will change to cover costs from a new gas plant in Laurel. The work will last about 8 weeks followed by a 30-day curing period, and drivers should expect reduced speeds, delays, and a temporary closure of the adjacent shared-use path.  KPAX
