- ➤ Recording artist Jeff Warner will perform his concert Range the Wild Woods Over: Songs and Stories from the Lumber Camps on April 24 at the Northwest Montana History Museum at 124 Second Ave. E. in Kalispell — he plays the banjo, concertina and cow bones to share the history of old logging camps. - ➤ The Northwest Montana Job and Opportunity Fair returns to Kalispell today at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Trade Center. The event begins with a high school and college student career fair from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a community job fair from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.—over 100 regional employers are expected to attend. - ➤ The third annual Earth Day Expo will be held on April 19 at Flathead Valley Community College from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organized by the Flathead Valley Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, the free event will feature panels, workshops, an EV showcase and keynote speaker Mariah Gladstone (founder of Indigikitchen) who will lead sessions including a kids’ cooking workshop to highlight clean energy and sustainability. - ➤ Rock Wren is a bird that lives in dry, rocky canyons and builds a nest with a unique pebble porch—pairs work together to raise up to three broods each season from May through early September. - ➤ Bobby’s Law, which would impose harsher penalties for drunk driving, passed the Senate with near-unanimous support on April 15 and now moves back to the House for final approval before reaching the governor’s desk (supported by local advocates including Bobby’s family) (backed by bipartisan lawmakers). - ➤ The Flathead National Forest is hosting a community meeting today at Swan Valley Elementary School in Condon on Montana Highway 83 to discuss the potential sale of Holland Lake Lodge. The meeting will review a special use authorization application from potential buyers Eric Jacobsen and Thomas Knowles that, if approved, will trigger a 30-day public comment period and lead to a 20-year permit.
