- ➤ Bigfork Innovations Group (received a $2,500 grant for helmets for a bike swap) received funds from Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program. The bike swap will be held Sunday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wayfarer’s State Park while Columbia Falls' Badrock Skatepark Association (secured $1,000 for helmet distribution) will host its helmet initiative during a grand opening on April 26. - ➤ Missoula author Doug Ammons will tell the story of attorney Matt Canning who defended a Montana farmer accused of insulting President Woodrow Wilson during World War I. - ➤ On Saturday morning, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Director Christy Clark cut a scarlet ribbon to open Reed's Slough Wildlife Viewing Area in Flathead Valley. - ➤ On Tuesday night, a strong solar storm produced colorful auroras across Montana — NOAA said the display depended on Earth's magnetic field interacting with solar bursts. - ➤ Kalispell’s equipment storage garage is running out of space — Public Works Director Susie Turner said budget limits have forced a delay in expanding the facility even as three mechanics manage repairs on over 325 pieces of equipment.
