- ➤ On April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host a trail maintenance training at Lone Pine State Park where volunteers learn skills to repair trails in Flathead Lake State Park and receive snacks, water + lunch along with tools; registration is required. - ➤ The free Women’s Fair returns to Kalispell on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, offering more than 30 exhibitors and support for nonprofits including Abbie Shelter and Sparrows Nest. KPAX

- ➤ Flathead Valley Community College will host public forums and an online survey to collect community input for its first presidential search in 25 years. Forums are scheduled for April 20 at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. & 4 p.m. in the Arts & Technology Room 319, while the survey runs until 8 p.m. that day. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ On March 30, Kalispell Montessori School won the first-place Division II trophy among small middle schools at the Montana Science Fair held at the University of Montana. Fourteen students competed and credited county-level experience (a key factor) with boosting their confidence in presenting innovative projects. Daily Inter Lake
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flathead Audubon has launched a new osprey monitoring project in the Flathead region where volunteers will visit adopted nests each week this summer to record observations and detect risks such as baling twine entanglements—using historical data to guide local education. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Warm temperatures in northwest Montana drove early snowmelt runoff that lowered snowpack in the Flathead and Kootenai basins — hydrologists reported streamflows are now 75 to 90% of normal. The early melt may affect water supplies later this spring. Flathead Beacon

- ➤ The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission removed the Swan Lake no wake zone petition from its April 16 meeting at the request of petitioners — who plan to reintroduce the measure for review on Aug. 19. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Flathead County planning staff will draft a conditional use permit process at a workshop Wednesday, letting cannabis businesses cultivate indoors in business zones instead of separate facilities. Owners say the change could ease financial burdens from current zoning rules. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Mach Development wants to build a 24-unit apartment project at 40 Appleway Drive in West Kalispell and is asking for $133,700 in TIF funds — the money will pay for demolition, work on the site, and boulevard improvements.
