- ➤ After two individuals were arrested Monday morning in Whitefish for vehicle theft, Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino said his department has seen a series of thefts of cars, ATVs and other high-value items—he is investigating possible links to a larger operation and urges residents to secure their property and report any suspicious activity. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ March brought a boost to Montana’s snowpack as most river basins received 110-140% of their normal precipitation — Flathead Basin reached 99% while Kootenai and Clark Fork basins were slightly lower — setting conditions for a healthier melt. Hydrologist Eric Larson explained that extra snow in April and May will improve river flows — a key factor for successful spring runoff — as the state heads into spring. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Today, Montana Department of Transportation continues work on Reserve Drive connecting Hutton Ranch Road and Whitefish Stage Road by hauling gravel, installing curbs and gutters, and pouring concrete from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.—the West Reserve Drive entrance to Home Depot is closed and drivers face 15 to 20 minute delays due to a 12-foot width restriction. - ➤ Flathead National Forest accepted the special use application from buyers Eric Jacobsen and Thomas Knowles for Holland Lake Lodge on April 7 and is taking public comment on their proposal until May 8. - ➤ Kalispell City Council voted Monday to apply for a state grant to build a shared-use path along U.S. 93 from Logan Health Medical Center to downtown Kalispell—this funding would cover an estimated $648,000 section of the project while additional funding will be sought for later phases. - ➤ Kalispell approved a resolution on Monday to apply for a grant funding a shared-use path along Sunset Boulevard from downtown to the healthcare complex (covering the east side of U.S. 93 from Wyoming Street to Mission Trail).
