- ➤ Flathead Valley nonprofits can soon apply for Whitefish Community Foundation’s 2026 Great Fish Community Challenge. Applications are due May 21, with selected groups notified in June, and the campaign will run from Aug. 11 through Sept. 11 to support donors and local organizations. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Whitefish and Blacktail ski areas faced a tough winter with lower snowfall and fewer visitors; Whitefish recorded 207 inches and 457,000 skier visits on nearly all of its 3,000 acres, while Blacktail operated half its mountain and will clear fallen trees off-season — preparing for next season. - ➤ Flathead Valley Community College culinary students launch a pop-up restaurant called Mezze on campus today at 10:45 a.m., serving Mediterranean dishes like hummus, kofta and baklava for lunch every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through April 24. Daily Inter Lake
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A supplemental assessment on the Columbia Falls Aluminum cleanup found it is not expected to harm endangered species — the EPA will conduct five-year monitoring and the project is set to begin next year near the Flathead River. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Today at 6 p.m., the Flathead County Planning Board meets at the South Campus Building (40 11th St. W.) to review C&J LAND Development, LLC’s proposal to subdivide 41.8 acres near Marion and consider new clustering provisions for residential zones.
