EDUCATION NEWS

  • Freshmen John Schaefer, Ryder Scott & Xavier Irby from Stillwater Christian School won first place in the state-level Presidential AI Challenge today and will join a regional Zoom interview scheduled for Saturday to present their AI project that streamlines construction schedules for the school’s expansion.  Flathead Beacon
  • Flathead Valley Community College launched a search for a new president and seeks input via survey and forums on April 20 at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Room 139 of the Arts and Technology building; a 14-member committee will use feedback to shape the presidential profile.  Flathead Beacon

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • State wildlife officials plan to add 48,000 acres to a conservation easement near the Thompson chain of lakes. The first phase, covering 34,160 acres, will be considered on June 11; the agreement with Green Diamond will limit development & keep public access for outdoor activities.  Daily Inter Lake

  • Local residents have petitioned to extend Swan Lake’s no wake zone from 200 feet to 500 feet to protect docks and shorelines from boat-caused damage, and the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will review the petition with a vote set for Thursday, Apr. 16.  Daily Inter Lake
