GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ House Bill 848 (introduced by Rep. Denise Baum) would create a Big Sky Rail Account in the state special revenue fund to set aside $2 million a year from a tax on railroad cars for planning a new passenger rail service to connect Montana towns. Lawmakers say that if phase two of planning goes smoothly (with stops confirmed), rail service could come in 8 to 10 years to link rural and urban areas. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Flathead County Library trustees signed a letter of intent on March 27 for property near a downtown mall at 20 N. Main St.—a key step toward building a new branch with flexible design plans. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Montana's independent pharmacies said they face low reimbursements from pharmacy benefit managers and have pushed a bill to set a minimum payment of 106% of the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost — with an added dispensing fee for each prescription.
