- ➤ Blankenship Fire Department upgraded its fleet when it bought a 32 year old 1994 HME Central States rig in December for $16,000 + the truck now offers a five person cab with self contained breathing units and serves a large rural area handling about 50 calls each year. Daily Inter Lake
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Whitefish School District discontinued its search for a new superintendent after negotiations with the board’s selected candidate (Dr. Jennifer Fee) failed to align with the approved compensation package. The board will soon discuss appointing an interim leader for the 2026-27 school year. Flathead Beacon
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Trustees, including state and tribal groups, released the final natural resource damage assessment plan for the Columbia Falls Aluminum site to test for forever chemicals (PFAS) and gauge long-term environmental impacts. The plan does not affect the planned cleanup starting in 2027 or nearby housing development. Daily Inter Lake
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Texas-based SHOP Development is finalizing a TIF funds request for $23 million to transform the Kalispell Center Mall into a mixed-use space. The developers plan to begin phase one later this year, adding green space and storefront openings — renovations are expected to finish in 2028. Flathead Beacon
