- ➤ The Kalispell Planning Department confirmed that construction started today on a new Amazon warehouse facility located on United Drive off Highway 93 in South Kalispell. The project is valued at 15.5 million dollars and is being built by Dick Anderson Construction (covering 28,000 square feet). KPAX
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On March 12, Dustin Lawrence Oswald (52) was arrested for urinating behind a Whitefish bus stop near Baker Avenue and 13th Street and allegedly threatened the arresting officer while being taken to jail; he will appear in court on April 3 to face a felony threat charge. Daily Inter Lake

- ➤ Whitefish High School senior Jake Dunker became Montana’s 2025 Poetry Out Loud state champion after competing at Grandstreet Theatre in Helena earlier this month—he will represent Montana at the national finals in May where he will vie for a top prize of $20,000 while earning $200 and securing a $500 donation for his school. - ➤ The Flathead Valley Community College Foundation is offering garden tours at Bibler Home and Gardens to raise funds for student scholarships, with ticket sales starting Tuesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. Visitors can join Spring Beauty tours on May 7-10 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a Tribal Weavings tour on May 10 at 1 p.m., Splendid Summer Evenings on July 14-18 at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Sweet Summer Days on Aug. 5-6 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; tickets cost $30 per adult + $10 per child. - ➤ A property tax relief bill passed unanimously in the Senate and received strong backing in the House Taxation committee on Thursday. The bill lets property owners apply for a credit of $240 from lodging & car rental tax revenue and may be amended to raise that credit as property values grow. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ Columbia Falls selected retired Capt. Eric Hanks as its new city manager; he signed his contract on March 12 and will start on April 1 to work on affordable housing and clear local planning. Hanks, a Navy veteran with extensive management experience, is expected to lead major changes in the community in the coming years. Daily Inter Lake
- ➤ The new span for Bridge Street Bridge in Bigfork arrived on March 19, ending over a year of closure and starting next week when crews will assemble the new pieces. Town officials expect the bridge to be complete by summer—removing the weight limit so trucks can travel safely through town. KPAX
- ➤ On March 4, Judge Matt Cuffe ruled in favor of Lincoln County and Parks Family Real Estate to clear a hurdle for plans to build a 21-acre RV park with 69 RV sites and 20 tent sites near Happy’s Inn north of U.S. 2—environment permits still are needed and environmental groups may appeal. - ➤ Whitefish's plan to extend the Whitefish River Trail by 648 feet was denied by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks on March 20 due to concerns the project would harm the river's banks and fishery — city officials are now reviewing the environmental assessment to explore alternative options.
