- ➤ Lynnette Hintze, a dedicated journalist who spent 26 years at Daily Inter Lake and worked in news for 47 years, died March 17 from complications after a bone marrow transplant during leukemia treatment in Texas. A service will be held on Monday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls—donations to Wings Regional Cancer Support are requested in lieu of flowers. Daily Inter Lake
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Flathead County Animal Shelter paused owner surrenders after 27 dogs were rescued from unsafe conditions in a home in Coram—16 of the dogs were moved to other shelters while the rescued animals are held for investigation and not available for adoption. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ On March 18, police surrounded a home on the 700 block of 10th Ave W near Ashley Creek and cleared the scene by 3:38 p.m.—two people were arrested, a 57-year-old woman with a US Marshall's arrest warrant for resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer and a 52-year-old man with a previously issued warrant. - ➤ Kalispell City Council ratified an agreement on March 18th with Flathead Warming Center that reinstated the homeless shelter's conditional use permit. The deal requires quarterly public board meetings, names City Manager Doug Russell as the liaison, and includes a city apology to director Tonya Horn (a measure to settle a lawsuit over the permit).
