Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 17th of February.
Good morning, Kalispell.
🏘️ Community
Social service providers completed the annual Point-in-Time (PiT) count from Jan.
29 to Feb. 5 and found a rise in chronic homelessness among disabled and aging residents due to scarce affordable housing and mental health supports. Flathead Warming Center data shows vulnerable individuals increasingly avoiding surveys.
🎭 Culture
Mary Fields shaped local history at St. Peter’s Mission near Cascade - working with Ursuline nuns in the 1880s, she earned a postal route and became known as Stagecoach Mary.
The stone school and convent are long gone but her legacy endures in community lore.
