State wildlife officials reported more cases of chronic wasting disease in deer and elk during the 2025-26 season after testing 8,630 samples from hunters between July 2025 and Jan.
2026 – the program found higher positive rates in areas including Kalispell and will update its findings after additional samples arrive.
